Just received these from Steve Jackson Games (US)— a new reprinting of the terrific “You Are the Hero” books from 1982 (and later), also known as Fighting Fantasy books. While the idea may resemble the well-known “Choose Your Own Adventure Books,” these are in fact games requiring dice! So you could lose these games with more than just your page choice. I had two of these back in the day (there were eventually 50 or more). The books were originally created by British game designers Steve Jackson (not of the US) and Sir Ian Livingstone— the founders of Games Workshop of Warhammer fame.
Though the covers are different, the text, rules, and interior art are the same as the original books, with the addition of “page flip dice” added to the series in 1983 (so you could play without having any dice handy).
I snagged these from a crowd-funding effort, but I believe they are going to be released for general purchase very soon.
Already sitting down rolling dice and turning pages! Great fun.
